Why India's BRAHMOS Missile is best in the World - ब्रह्मज्ञान

BrahMos is the fastest cruise missile in the world. This statement is best to describe the capacity and capability of this missile. It is one of the best weapons that Indian Defense has got. It was developed as a joint venture of Russia and India and got its name from two famous rivers of these countries, Brahmaputra of India and the Moskva of Russia. India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) played an important role in its development.

How India's BrahMos Missile is better than others

• It can be launched from submarine, ships, aircraft, or land. It can be launched from a depth 50m under water through a submarine or from mobile launchers on land.
• Currently this missile can travel at a speed of Mach 3.0 . It means it can travel at a speed of more than 1 km/second or 3700km/hour . This speed is being upgraded to Mach 5. BrahMos-II is also under development which will have a top speed of more than Mach 7.
• The range of this missile is from 290 to 450 km.
• It can hit the target with 1 meter accuracy.
• It can find and hit a building in a cluster of buildings. At present India is the only nation in the World with such technology.

• It can remain undetected on Radars as it can travel at a height of just 4 meters. This features works best over the sea. It can go up to maximum height of 14 km in sky.
• It can carry a warhead of 200 to 300kg. It is capable of carrying nuclear warheads.
• If we talk about dimensions, its diameter is 0.6 m (2.0 ft), length is 8.4 m (28 ft) and it weighs from 2500 to 3000kg.

How many BrahMos missiles are there in India ?

• Indian Navy had deployed 100 BrahMos missiles on its war ships. Another 100 are there as backup.
• Indian Army has deployed 4 regiments with BrahMos missiles. Each of them has got 72 missiles in service and 72 as backup.
• Russia and India has decided to produce 2000 Brahmos Missiles, out of them 50% can be sold to strategic partners.  

As we researched on internet about other types of missile and anti-missile systems that other countries have got, we found that some of them have developed cruise missiles faster than Brahmos but they are either not in service (they are in production) or it is not revealed to world. India is also developing a next version of BrahMos which will be faster and will have a larger range.

When it comes to range there is no comparison of ballistic  missiles. Ballistic missiles have got range in thousands of kilometers and are usually capable of carrying nuclear warhead. But ballistic missiles can be targeted midway through antimissile systems. Cruise missiles can be considered better only because there is no defense system against them.
